What is war, and why do we have it? These two questions will be explored deeply in today’s episode, as we look at violent versus peaceful behaviors in humans and other animals, interactions between nations and people over the course of human history, and what war brings to involved communities.

7. Alcohol and Cannabis

How people are taught to perceive drugs, particularly alcohol and cannabis, vary greatly between cultures. Today, we explore why these differences in relationships exist, how they differ between cultures, and the implications of these differences in smaller-scale communities a bit closer to home.

Mythology encompasses any story or piece of lore related to a religion (including commonly practiced ones of modern day). In this episode, we explain that definition a bit further, and dive into comparing and contrasting some myths that have some really interesting similarities — as well as discussing the importance of comparing and defining myths from various religions.

Hello! My name is Claire, and I’m one of your hosts! I have a focus in archaeology and cultural heritage, and I really enjoy listening to podcasts, especially about mythology and folklore. I also have a double major in creative writing and a minor in classical archaeology, and I can’t wait to share my love for anthro with everyone.

Phuong

Hi, my name is Phuong and I’m part of the tech crew! I love talking about primates… ask me about my favorite monkey! I’m excited to be on this podcast and hope to educate more people on the broad, broad field of anthropology.

I’m very passionate about traveling, photography, fashion, and a large variety of outdoor hobbies. One other thing I find very important in my life is enjoying the nuances of human connection. Whether that be fleeting moments with strangers or long intimate conversations with friends or family – I cherish it all. That is the main reason why I love Anthropology and our podcast, Anthro.mp3, so much (shameless plug, sorry). They both focus on the beauty of shared humanity, what more can you simply ask for?

Hello! I do a little bit of everything for the Podcast, but mainly host! I’m a double major in Psychology and Anthropology, I find the cross-overs of the fields to be fascinating. My passions include travel, creative writing, and fitness. My favorite thing about Anthropology is that you can see any topic through an anthropological lens! Cultural anthropology is my favorite subfield and I’m excited to explore it on this podcast!
